Bridgett Williams
You can catch Bridgett co-anchoring NBC Augusta 26 News at 6 and 11. Prior to her promotion in 2007, Bridgett anchored NBC Augusta 26 Morning News. Bridgett is also the Faith First reporter. Before joining NBC Augusta 26 News, Bridgett worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WLTX in Columbia. Previously, she worked in New Bern, N.C. as an assignment editor, producer and reporter. Bridgett has been honored by the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association with a Best Anchor/Reporter Award and a Best Documentary award for her work on a James Brown special. Bridgett's also been recognized by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and the Best of Gannett. Bridgett works with various groups in the Georgia-Carolina community. Currently, she's involved with Leadership Augusta and serves on the Salvation Army Jr. Board. She’s an annual co-host for the Children’s Miracle Network Celebration and she’s volunteered at the MCG Children’s Medical Center. Bridgett has hosted numerous events for organizations such as the Richmond County Board of Education, Thankful Baptist Church, Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History, The Georgia Council on Aging, The Aiken SPCA, the NAACP Augusta Branch, Paine College, the Augusta Restoration Shop, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Although she's a South Carolina girl, Bridgett's also a "Tar Heel bred" as the fight song goes. She received the Outstanding Senior in Electronic Communication Award upon graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While attending Carolina, she worked as an anchor/reporter for Carolina Week, the student-produced cable newscast. She also served as president of the Carolina Association of Black Journalists, a National Association of Black Journalists' (NABJ) Student Chapter of Year. A native of South Carolina's Upstate, Bridgett is excited to be in nearby Augusta and a part of the NBC Augusta 26 News family. Bridgett enjoys traveling the country for journalism training programs and conferences. She’s attended several with Poynter Institute and NABJ. During her spare time Bridgett enjoys working out, reading, listening to music, going to church, and spending time with her family and friends. Bridgett also loves visiting schools, talking to students and mentoring young people. Bridgett’s dream job is to one-day work with her brother and it might just happen. He's a meteorologist in Charleston, South Carolina.
