Steve Kuzj joined the NBC Augusta news team in July of 2008. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Business Management, Steve made the move from the frigid north down to Georgia.

Steve’s news career began in high school as a reporter for his school’s weekly television news program, Static TV. A story involving video games and violent teenagers earned him the Quill & Scroll award for exceptional journalistic reporting.

While in college, he interned at WCCO-TV and worked at the Minnesota Daily, the top college newspaper in the nation. As a multimedia-journalist and eventual head of the Audio & Visual department, he reported and produced video stories on everything from bomb threats and scandals, to interviews with Hollywood celebrities and rock stars.

In 2007, he was selected as a National Finalist for the Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Awards.

Whenever he has a moment to spare, you can usually catch him in the gym or outside going for runs around Augusta.

Why I'm A Journalist: The pure thrill of it all. For Steve, nothing can top the rush of breaking an important story or being live on the scene right after a disaster. He likes feeling a part of the action and trying to make a difference.
Hidden Talents: He's a black belt. Steve's been practicing martial arts since he was able to walk.
Hobbies: Snowboarding, exercising, tennis, martial arts.
Dream Job: War Correspondent.
Role Models: Anderson Cooper and my dad.
