Trent Butler
Trent Butler has returned home to Georgia to co-anchor for NBC Augusta 26 News at 6 & 11 p.m. Trent grew up outside Atlanta and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast News, minoring in History and Speech. His wife Julie is also a UGA graduate and she grew up in Martinez. Trent has worked in both sports and news, starting his career at a radio station in Columbia, South Carolina. After working at WJBF-TV in Augusta, Trent moved his family to Rome, Ga., and then Fort Myers, Fla. During his eleven years at WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Trent spent most of his time behind the anchor desk. Yet, some of his favorite moments include covering the 1997 World Series in Cleveland featuring the Marlins and Indians and the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia in 2000. Since he returned to Augusta in the fall of 2006, some of Trent's highlights include covering the 2007 and 2008 Masters, the 2007 Presidential debate at South Carolina State and the 2009 Georgia legislative session. Trent is a member of the Rotary Club of Augusta. He is also a board member of Historic Augusta. Trent was part of the NBC Augusta team that helped raise nearly $1,000,000 for The Children's Miracle Network during the annual telethon at the MCGHealth Children's Medical Center. Recently, his volunteer efforts have also centered around furthering the cause of adoption. With an adopted daughter and as an adopted child himself, Trent has a strong passion in this area. Trent and Julie have been married for 17 years and they have three children: Ben, Brice and Brooke.
