Rich Rogers
Rich Rogers was born and raised in Augusta. Rich first became interested in weather at age 7, when a strong thunderstorm moved over his house in the National Hills area. That is also when he was first introduced to 24/7 weather information via The Weather Channel. From then on, he was hooked! Whether it was the Superstorm of 1993, the drought of 1998-2002, the New Year's snowstorm of 2002, or the Good Friday 2009 tornado outbreak, Rich was keeping an eye on the situation and was busy maintaining weather records. Rich graduated from Greenbrier High School in Evans, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, with an emphasis in television and cinema, from Augusta State University, in 2003. During college, Rich was involved in a weather internship at NBC Augusta under the guidance of Chief Meteorologist Jeff Rucker. After college, Rich began working in the banking business at Augusta's largest hometown bank. He eventually decided to return to his original love of weather by joining the NBC Augusta weather team as a fill-in weathercaster in September 2006 while still working at the bank. A year later, Rich became the full-time weekend weather forecaster for NBC Augusta 26 News and weekday web editor for NBCAugusta.com. Currently, Rich is enrolled in the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University. He is also a member of the National Weather Association, and attends Lakemont Presbyterian Church in Augusta. In his spare time, Rich enjoys keeping up with politics, watching sitcoms, working out, and spending time with family and friends. JUST THE FACTS Most PopularMore Good Stuff |
