Jay Jefferies
The Metro Spirit in Augusta featured Jay Jefferies as a “Jay of all Trades” in September 2007. If you get a chance to peek inside Jay’s world, you’ll find they have uncovered the truth! A long-time Augusta forecaster, Jay Jefferies joined NBC Augusta News in May 2006 as weekend forecaster after several years as Morning Forecaster on WRDW-TV. In between working at those stations, Jay served as Director of Public Relations and Research at Paine College. Presently, he is known for his segment on NBC Augusta, “Where in Augusta is Jay Jefferies?” and for his educational and informational weather forecasting on the morning show and the 11am show. Leaving a career that spanned over 20 years in radio broadcasting, Jay began his weather career in Beaumont, Texas. From there he moved to Augusta for several years and then in 1998 left to work for AccuWeather in State College, Pennsylvania. He had opportunities to provide live national weather reports on MSNBC and travel the world installing weather systems and training meteorologists. Before returning to Augusta, he also worked for stations in Albany, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. Truly a Jay of all trades, when he’s not on television, he can be spotted working at Mays Mortuary or playing the drums for “the greatest church in the world”, Second Providence Baptist Church (SPBC) in North Augusta. Jay and his wife, Bonita, live in Augusta with their two children, Jaida and Jaden. JUST THE FACTS Most Popular |
