Event Description

Historic Springfield Baptist Church, the oldest black Baptist church in America organized in 1787 and still standing at the same location, will celebrate its Pastoral Installation Services for Rev. Hardy S. Bennings, III on September 10 – 13, 2009.

The celebration begins on Thursday September 10 at 7:00PM at Springfield Baptist Church, with services conducted by Pastor Christopher Waters and the Thankful Baptist Church. Friday September 10 at 7:00PM, the services will be conducted by Pastor Charles Goodman and the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Saturday at 9:00AM, the Springfield Baptist Church Family will be hosting a “Care for the Community” breakfast free of charge for the homeless, with tours of our historic facility beginning at 12:00PM. The finale of Saturday’s events ends with a banquet at 6:00 PM at the Doubletree Hotel, Augusta, GA. Sunday’s events will include our 10:45AM Worship Experience with Rev. Josiah Mobley from the Siloam Church International of College Park, GA and the 3:00PM Installation Services with Pastor Alvin R. Litman of the New Mountaintop Baptist Church of Winston, GA.
