Tom Young wins runoff election for Dist. 81 House seat

By NBC Augusta Staff

Aiken attorney Tom Young received 53 percent of the votes in Tuesday's runoff election to win the S.C. District 81 seat.

Tom Young beat Aiken County Council member Scott Singer.

A runoff election was necessary after neither candidate received 50 percent of the vote in the June 10 Republican primary.

Young will replace Representative Skipper Perry after he retires.

There is no Democratic challenger.

Only time will tell if he's the right person for the job. Hopefully, he will do what he promised during the campaign.
