In one Augusta ministry, faith and shared loss are common ties that bind and strengthen hope.
Started by three moms who'd lost children, Angel's Touch has been helping grieving families with faith-based support for more than 11 years.
“People that have come to Angel's Touch and continue to come back come back because they find the hope there is in our faith. We know we will see our children again because we know they're in Heaven. We're Christians and because we believe, we'll be there with them one day,” Co-founder Suzi Hall said.
Trudi Dunn made her first visit to Angel's Touch in November.
The registered nurse, minister and author shared her story of losing two babies.
“Just being here helps me encourage someone else. They're on the same journey I was on, but also to be able to identify with them and the loss they're going through encourages me even more,” Dunn said.
The parents say their common bond is comforting and added with faith has healing powers.
"To get the strength from God and here you can go out and save one other life from that experience and it really helps I think for me,” one parent said.
“Hadn't I had this place to go to share with people who understand, I have no idea where I would be right now," Kimberly Godbee, who lost her oldest child, said.
Angel's Touch meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the library of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church at 1330 Monte Sano Ave. in Augusta.
Trudi Dunn will hold a book signing for “Forever In My Heart” at the New Columbia County Library at 7022 Evans Town Center Blvd. in Evans on Saturday, November 10th from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
