Area Christians Pray for Augusta, Nation And World

By Tina Terry

Thousands of Christians gathered to pray for local and national issues Friday. It was all part of Augusta's Prayer and Praise Rally. Those from more than five different denominations were present.

"There has never been an event that all denominational barriers have been broken and people have come together for one purpose," said Cindy Jones.

Their purpose was prayer. They prayed for the Augusta area, the nation and the world.

"The righteous have got to stand up and pray for our nation's leaders our leaders around the world," said Katie Howard.

They say putting differences aside and humbling themselves before their God is the way to change the things they can't change alone.

"When people are unified they can accomplish anything they want to."

More than 128 churches were present at the rally. It's the second time the event has been held at the Civic Center.
