Faith-based group gets $2 million for homeless
ATLANTA (AP) - A faith-based drug recovery program in Atlanta is getting federal funds to target more homeless. Recovery Consultants of Atlanta Inc. will receive $2 million in funds from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services over the next five years. Philip Mangano, head of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, made the announcement during a stop in Atlanta Friday. He says the money will provide supportive services for homeless people transitioning into housing, including case workers to ensure people are getting their medicine and attending counseling. Mangano was scheduled to speak before the Georgia Coalition To End Homelessness conference, wrapping up Friday at Callaway Gardens (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
