In the Valley between Vaucluse and Clearwater, S.C. people are finding soul food.
The Valley Rescue Mission is a new outreach effort for people living in that area.
Brother Rob Lane is the director of Mt. Salem Outreach Ministry in Gloverville where a new meal box program he started is getting more and more response everyday.
“When someone walks through the door, this is what I know they need. I know that without a doubt, because this is what got in me, this is what changed me, this is what healed me,” Lane said holding up his Bible.
Lane says he knows firsthand what it's like to be homeless and discouraged and now that he's been blessed to build a better life, he wants to share that message with those who could use some inspiration.
Warrenville resident, Diane Short is disabled and on a fixed income.
“It's wonderful for not just me but a lot of valley people, there's some place for us to go if we need a little extra help,” Short said. “There's a place in heaven for them that's for sure.”
Right now, Lane has a handful of volunteers from the area helping him with the meal boxes and ministry.
There are also about 25 pledge partners helping with donations to buy the meal boxes, but Lane says he’s praying more will join to bring his full vision for the outreach to life.
“In the coming months, this will be a chapel and a fellowship hall. We'll be offering free lunch and dinner and the word,” Lane said.
If you need help or would like to help out, Mt. Salem Outreach Ministry and Valley Rescue Mission is in Gloverville at 4121 Augusta Road.
