GQ: How Much Gasoline Comes From A Barrel of Oil?

Jolene from Burke County wants to know, how much gasoline can be made from one barrel of oil?

According to the American Petroleum Institute, a 42 gallon barrel of oil produces about 20-gallons of gasoline.

Each barrel also produces diesel fuel, home heating oil and kerosene besides other products.

according to your statement, at the present price of $120 a barrel the gas should be at $6 gallon and its not even close. Why?
