Many parents, like Samantha from Richmond County, want to know if school districts will provide bus service for summer school students.

Both Richmond and Columbia counties will provide free busing.

Bus drivers with Richmond County schools tell us they began calling parents Monday with route information. If you don't receive a phone call, contact the district's main office at 706-826-1000.

Columbia County parents should call the county's transportation hotline at 706-541-2729 and press option 6.

Would fewer stops for the school bus help reduce fuel consumption? I followed behind a bus in the apple valley neighborhood and it stopped 12 times, about every 3rd house, before i made it to my house. The kids might have been in middle school, 10 to 13 years old. These are the same kids we watch walking around the neighborhood, and they seem not to have any problems walking to the corner store off mike padgett. Thank you
