Many NBC Augusta viewers emailed us about bad customer service experiences and wanted to know if good customer service is a thing of the past.
When it comes to customer service Robert Mullins says he has had some of the worst.
“It was finding a mouse in my tea. It was a former barbecue place here in Augusta,” said Mullins.
But its not just drastic cases like Mullins' that have many customers asking if they can get some service along with their meal.
“We have come here in the past and we sat out on the patio and no one ever came over to take our order and we sat there for 15 minutes and so we just got up and left,” said Dawn Cobb.
And customers say they don't want much just the basics.
“Trying to check on them and make sure their tea glass is full or whatever. Just making sure they have what they need,” said Mullins
“Being polite, it's not even necessarily being fast if you're polite and courteous,” said Cobb.
It's not just the food industry where customers feel service has been sacrificed. It's airlines too.
“The staff on the planes isn't as attentive as they used to be. They give you the minimum then they all hide down the back and try to not give you anything else,” said frequent flyer Stephen Wilson.
“That's one of the reasons I liked to fly because you got food and snacks and got to see a movie,” Mullins said.
But what about fast food and other low cost services? Should people expect less because they pay less?
“No I don't. If that's the job that you have and you're in customer service then provide good customer service,” said Cobb.
“To be treated as a human being. You try to treat them well. It's not just getting from A to B it's about doing it in a human way,” Wilson said.
