GQ: What happens if the presidential race ends up in a tie?

By NBC Augusta Staff

Close poll numbers have some people wondering if the race to the White House could end in a tie.

So what would happen?

If one of the candidates does not win at least 270 electoral votes, the House of Representatives, which is currently controlled by the Democrats would choose the new President when it meets in January.

While the House chooses the President, the Senate would elect the Vice President.

It's happened before...back in 1824.
