We consulted the TV experts at Best Buy for advice on this Good Question. They say, plasma is a gas and the TV is enclosed in a slightly different casing. In some conditions, the screen on plasma sets can glare.
LCD stands for liquid crystal display. Best Buy says you will notice a reduction in glare if you use and LCD model. LCD and plasma are similar in price, and they offer a similar picture. the LCD appears slightly sharper, because of the way the screen is designed.
When the new TVs first came out, many people were concerned about how long they'd work properly. Most plasma televisions can operate regularly for about eight years. Another important thing to remember...the cost. Most mid-size to large models run around one thousand dollars and up.
