GQ: Are Aiken County schools getting the H1N1 vaccine?

AIKEN, S.C.- H1N1 vaccines are coming to Georgia-Carolina.

When they will become available is the subject of NBC Augusta 26 News’ Good Question.

Melissa from Aiken wants to know if the Aiken County Public School System will offer H1N1 flu shots at any of their schools?

We did some digging and found out the school board will meet on October 13th to make a decision about whether or not they'll offer the vaccine.

The South Carolina Department of Health says they expect to get the injectable vaccines by the end of next week.

They say the school system to decide if they want to offer shots in the schools.

The East Central Health Department will also provide H1N1 vaccines to Richmond and Columbia County schools.

Both districts are expected to receive the shots by the end of the month.

We're told private physicians and health clinics could receive them sooner.

My daughters and I both were diagnosed to have this flu a few weeks ago, and believe me, it is not easy to recover from. Besides missing near 10 days of school, the 104 degree fevers are uncontrollable, and the virus leaves you weak and tired for weeks. Anyone who thinks they don't need this vaccine, please protect yourself and your loved ones. I just wish the vaccines were available sooner!
