GROVETOWN, Ga. - It's the hot topic of Grovetown; the new Gateway Walmart.

The grand opening is Wednesday.

NBC Augusta 26 News got a sneak peek at the store Tuesday.

The store manager says it's one of the few Walmarts that's "female friendly."

The aisles are set up with beauty products and the pharmacy closer to the food products.

"It has a new design layout that you’ll see in all stores after the first of the year. There’s new clean middle aisles, a lot more open space and low profile checkouts,” said store manager Dale Wooten.

The doors open at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The new "Grovetown Walmart" will not help the tax base of Grovetown as it is not actually inside the city limits of Grovetown (it does have a Grovetown mailing address). None the less, Grovetown may benefit slightly since it is right down the street from McDonalds, KFC, etc. I live in Grovetown and I for one welcome the new store with open arms (and possible an empty wallet). It's about time that Grovetown gets some good stuff in the area. Walmart, I'll see you this weekend !

Anonymous, that's a good question. On a previous story I was told by Grovetown City officials that it would be a great benefit. I'll check on those questions while I'm out there tomorrow and let you know. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the comment lilmsnoitall. That is the phrase they used because Walmart did a study and found most of their customers were females. That is what I was told. Again, thanks for reading and responding. :)
