In Tuesday's Healthy U, nurse practitioner Victoria Burt tell us to deal with the flu.

Problems from the flu leads to more than 200,000 people being hospitalization each year. Up to 10 percent of all deaths in the US during the flu season are related to these problems.
Flu season i s from October- May .

It is most commonly caused by types A or B virus. It is spread easily from person-to-person through coughing and sneezing. It occurs most in the winter months because of more time spent indoors and close contact.

The people who are the most at risk of getting the flu are the young, elderly, people who have certain health conditions that weakens the immune system, people in institutionalized settings.

You can get a flu shot at the Augusta-Richmond County Health Department on Laney Walker Blvd from 8 a.m– 4p.m. For more information call (706) 721-5900.

Shots are also available at the Aiken County Healthy Department. You can call for an appointment at 1(800) 659-1651.

Kroger or BI-LO call for an appointment
CVS call 1-888-Flu-Shot for location and appointment
Most will file Medicare or Medicaid otherwise small fee.
