Crews are working around the clock, making sure the Augusta Mall is ready for its grand opening on November 8. Among the construction that needs to be finished, brand new entrances and a fountain. But mall officials say they're right on schedule.

"We're ready for finally be open, and we hope the community is ready for some of the new stores," said Linda Hardin, Augusta Mall GM.

The outside that's getting a new look. The inside is also getting a make over.

Brand new tiles, ceilings and escalators are just some of the renovations shoppers will find on the 8th. Mall officials hope the changes will bring shoppers back to Augusta.

"We hope with the expansion and renovations, we can keep the shoppers in Augusta and keep the tax dollars in Augusta. And get shoppers from the region to shop," said Hardin.

It's expansion that will allow people to shop 'til they drop.

Mall officials say the first 250 shoppers will get gift certificates from the different stores that are opening.

Also the Mall is getting a brand new play area for the kids that opens on Saturday, November 10.

And on Sunday, November 11, the mall will welcome Santa Claus and NBC Augusta's Jay Jefferies will be helping out with Santa's big arrival. He arrives around 2 in the afternoon.

In addition to new construction, the interior of the mall is being renovated. The renovations include new floor tile, new elevator in the Food Court, an updated Food Court, and a children's play area near Dillard's, to list a few.

The mall has also installed new Christmas decorations, which haven't been updated in about 14 years.
