A Georgia Power expert tells NBC Augusta viewers about ways to shave off dollars on your next power bill.

Robert Beier says be sure to check your filter once a month. During the summertime try to keep your thermostat on 78 degrees. If it gets too hot, be sure to use you ceiling fan instead of turning up the thermostat.

Keep doors and windows closed as much as possible.

Make sure to re-caulk your windows to block out the heat.

Instead of using the higher wattage bulb, be sure to use the lower wattage.
