The White's Building is officially open after undergoing a year-long revitalization project.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver joined the Chamber of Commerce and Horizon Group Investments for a ribbon cutting ceremony of the renovated JB White’s Building Thursday.

The building has a mix of commercial and residential spaces. There are 57 condominiums. Eight have been sold.

Evelyn Petra was the first resident to move in. She said location is what drew her to The White’s Building.

“It's the center of downtown. It's the place to be. I love White’s because it's part of the history of Augusta. White’s was here for many years and for most of us my age it was our primary place to shop,” said Petra.

Some of the businesses are expected to open in September including White Azalea restaurant and Casa Blanca Coffee Shop.
