Richmond County leaders are fighting to keep you from paying more taxes for now!
Monday, commissioners voted to send out tax bills in September, including a state funded homestead exemption.
That is despite the fact that Governor Sonny Perdue recently froze the grant program that allows for that exemption. Commissioners say they will ask state lawmakers returning to the Capitol in January to restore the funds.
If not, County Administrator Fred Russell says homeowners will face higher taxes.
