Perdue: Tax grants "ineffective''
ATLANTA (AP)- As Georgia's budget woes have deepened, Gov. If Perdue has his way, the thaw might not be coming anytime soon. The Republican governor said Tuesday the grants are "ineffective'' and have worked to fatten up local governments rather than providing homeowners with tax relief. Perdue suggested he wants to look at "better ways'' to reduce He's likely to face stiff opposition from state lawmakers who fear elimination of the grants could push taxes higher.
