AIKEN, S.C. - Several Aiken County gas stations have gas for less than a dollar a gallon.
You can find the cheap gas at stations located along East Pine Log Road.
It all started when a new Spirit station opened this week with the cheapest gas in the area. Since then, prices have gone down 40 cents.
"I was passing by, saw the sign, filled up. I'm happy," said David Miller.
"It's awesome, I haven't seen this since high school," said Lakeisha Bates.
Joyce Howard says her station's 93 cents-a-gallon gas is a late Christmas present folks just can't seem to get their fill of.
"I think it's worse than it was with the shortage after the hurricanes," she said about the lines.
"I put $20 in to fill up my truck, usually it's 60," said Joshua Enochs.
He says that makes a huge difference for his bottom line as an on-the-road contractor.
"When it's cheap like this you can't argue with it," he said. "I wish it would go even lower."
And moments later, it did, gas went as low as 89 cents a gallon Friday night.
"Merry Christmas, Happy New Year," Howard said. "We're just keeping up with them, don't know how long it will go on."
But Howard says she's pumped up, to be the good guy now.
"It feels good, it feels real good, to see our customers happy for the first time," she said.
"I love it, I wish it would stay like this," said Enochs.
"I'm going to get the other car and come back very soon," echoed Miller.
