AUGUSTA. Ga. - The race to find work was on Thursday, during a job fair at Augusta State's Christenberry Fieldhouse.

More than 3,000 people circled the track going from employer to employer, in hopes of finding their next job.

Fifty-five employers showed up, including FPL Foods, and Home Depot.

The competition for one of those jobs is fierce.

"I was laid off recently, so ya know, I'm trying to find work as fast as possible and trying to hurry up and get one of these jobs before somebody else does,” said job seeker Harold Carter.

"Get out there. If you stay at home, if you're at home right now you should be out her getting a clue about what's going on. You won't find out what's going on if you're at home," said Maressica Rickerson, another job seeker.
