Murder-For-Hire Suspect Back In North CarolinaA 76-year-old Augusta woman charged with murder-for-hire in the death of her fourth husband was returned to Stanly County, North Carolina Friday morning to face that charge. Betty Neumar is charged with hiring someone to kill her husband, Thomas Gentry more than 20-years ago. At Neumar's bond hearing in North Carolina prosecutors told the judge there are several witnesses that heard Neumar trying to hire someone to kill Gentry. Prosecutors also say they have found more than one overseas bank account in her name. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office arrested Neumar on May 21 after being contacted by Stanly County, NC authorities. She was being held in the Richmond County Jail until North Carolina authorities picked her up Friday morning. The couple lived in Norwood, North Carolina at the time, that's about 45 miles east of Charlotte. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is also looking into the death of Neumar's most recent husband. John Neumar died in October in Augusta. He was cremated. His ashes have been sent to the GBI's crime lab. All five of Neumar's husbands are dead.
