It's been a problem area for Richmond County deputies for years. Now they're out in full force trying to clean it up.

In two phases, deputies hit the streets in the Barton Village community looking for drugs and gang violence.

After receiving several complaints from the community, the sheriff's office hit the area hard. The second phase was a road check. Deputies made several DUI and drug arrests.

This aggressive patrolling is something the sheriff's office will continue to do to keep crime down in the area.

It's not just Barton Village that needs attention, but it is a start. Thank you RCSO for making Augusta's streets a little safer.
