Four people are behind bars after Richmond County narcotics investigators busted them for methamphetamine.

After a month long investigation, they raided two homes. Both were on the 1900 block of Telfair Street in the Harrisburg community. Richmond County narcotics investigators say more than $2,000 worth of meth were taken from two homes. They say tips from neighbors led to the arrests.

"Drugs, drugs, drugs," said Donnie Judy, neighbor.

It's a problem Judy says she's noticed for a while.

"Something is going on besides just visiting, especially if you don't stay more than five to ten minutes. Something not good is going on," said Judy.

Her suspicions about the homes across the street came true after Richmond County narcotics investigators got a two for one deal. After a month long investigation, they arrested four people. They were operating two different meth labs next door to each other.

"These two residents behind me have been cooking and selling meth. We got a good amount of finished product," said Sgt. Greg Meagher, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

But Friday's meth bust is only a small dent in what investigators say is a much better problem.

“Crack cocaine is one of the most popular drugs and it’s destroying this neighborhood. Meth is starting to pop up and we are trying to stop it before it gets really deep in here,” said Meagher.

Richmond County's narcotics team say they're sending a strong message that they'll be back in Harrisburg making sure the streets stay clean.

All four are being charged with manufacturing meth and trafficking meth.

We are working to make Harrisburg drug free and riff raff free. We are doing it through replacing the trouble making neighbors with upwardly mobile folks. www.hongkongaugustaga.org
