HARLEM, Ga. - A Columbia County woman is home with her family after she says she was abducted, beaten and left for dead.

Investigators say the attacker was hiding in the 62-year-old woman's car as she drove away from the IGA in Harlem Wednesday evening. The man forced her to drive to Greenwood County at gunpoint, then took her into the woods, and made her take her clothes off.

Investigators say the attacker beat her and then took off. A driver passing by, found her on the side of the road. If you saw anything suspicious at the IGA store or have any information that might help with this investigation, call the police.

What we all need to start doing is watching out for our neighbors. Old School is the only school. There is only so much police can do because their hands are tied by the city and county government. Only criminals have rights that can't be violated. No one seems to care about the victim's rights. I spent my life arresting the bad guys (and gals) only to watch them walk free. When the laws no longer protect the citizens, the citizens must protect themselves. It's time to take out the trash.

Yes, Harlem is a small town..but it's basically part of the Augusta metropolitan area (a suburb of Augusta for all intents purposes). Unless Harlem were several counties away from Augusta, you may as well live in Augusta, and all the crime craziness that goes with it.
