How depressing!! NBC was the ONLY news team at the park during the aftermath - WHY can't they report the story correctly?? I'm a parent of 1 of the persons there, and came up there shortly after the stabbing happened. Did the NBC person even ask a question of anyone? Did he just stand there in a haze filming? Reporting FALSE and INACCURATE news is BAD news! CC went to HEPHZIBAH and picked up a 21yrold being held WITHOUT bond! NBC try a bit harder from the beginning to rpt the news straight!!

The boy who was stabbed is not garbage. No need to make snap judgements. I'm a longtime friend of the family and trust me, he is FAR from that. In case you haven't seen, the guy with the knife was from Hephizabah-not Columbia County. This should be a lesson to everyone, not just young men, that violence doesn't pay and you never know what someone else is going through. Praying for both families involved, as should everyone else who is so concerned enough to post a comment to this article.

I was there the night this occurred. The story about him trying to "break up" a fight, is ridiculous. I don't know how that story came about, but it is 100% NOT TRUE. Neither of them are bad kids. Boys fight all the time, this one just got out of hand.

First of all I am the parent of one of those kids and for your information I LOVE my child more than my own life!!! and for anyone to say a thing like that without knowing the facts, that is just showing your ignorance!! Most of the "kids" were over the age of 21, and if they can't go to a public park to play volleyball without being attacked, I think we have bigger issues to talk about than whos fault it is or why they were there. Unless you have all the facts you should not fuel the fire!!

This was not gang involvement or drug dealers. I know I was there...I'm not involved in a gang and I don't hang out with people who are. This has gotten just plain silly. Crimes happen everyday, everywhere...no one can prevent them. Give me a break. People will come up with ANY kind of story they can think of to make all people look bad. The person that attacked and stabbed the victim isn't even from the Evans/Augusta area...this is ridiculious people!!! GET A LIFE!

All the kids were from Columbia county. These were Columbia county thugs. Thugs and gangs are all over Columbia County. This is not a surprise. Stabbings and fights happen all the time in Columbia county schools. Evans and Harlem probably produced most of these thugs. Grovetown high will start producing more thugs. Than Evans when it opens this year.

I think that more parents should look at the broader picture. I happen to know most of the teenagers that were at the park. All of them are good kids. The young man that was stabbed is no exception. He has a big heart and is a very hard worker. The situation was brought about by teens by another area. The other thing I would like to bring to your attention is that the teen agers today do not have a place to go and gather because Col Cty is so busy building for everybody else - go figure.

Good question. Were the attackers from Columbia County? Seems that we are getting a lot of losers from out of county (and state. For that matter out of the Country) coming here to do harm. While I will be the first to admit we have a lot of zeros living here- I believe we are seeing more out of county criminals coming here.

You don't think these parents care about their kids??? This happened at a park at 11 pm. Trust me, school starting back isn't going to change the way things are. People are still going to be killed or hurt due to other peoples ignorance. Shame on both of you.

No drinking involved. This is a case where someone tried to step in to stop a fight and ended up getting injured because of it. Trust me, these are good kids, and the person that stabbed Chad wasn't from Columbia County...the kids were at the park playing volleyball and a group came up to pick a fight. I don't think ANYONE can prevent another persons actions. People are crazy these days, killings at schools and churches. There is no way to prevent these crimes.

It's incredible how people just jump to conclusions without knowing even a fraction of the story. The kid who got stabbed was a genuinely good kid, not someone looking for trouble - and he was NOT a minor, so there would be no need for him to be adhering to a "curfew." Please think before you type, people...and show some sensitivity for crying out loud.

Well for starters this was a very unfortunate situation. I was there, and believe it or not kids do tell their parents stuff. Mine knew where I was, it just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Referring to the comment about columbia county curfew, seeing how grovetown is part of columbia county your curfew and ours is midnight, not 11 o'clock. Once again its about how you live not where you live.
