AUGUSTA, Ga. - Burglaries have got neighbors in one Augusta community fearing for their safety. They say things need to get cleaned up.

On Friday afternoon at a home on Dahlia Street in south Augusta, someone broke open the front door and stole TVs, cell phones, DVD players and more. Two houses down and just minutes later, the same thing happened.

With both burglaries happening in broad day light, some neighbors say the area isn't like it used to be.

"It was a safe neighborhood but so many drugs come around here makes it not a safe neighborhood," said Andrew Lee Anderson.

Anderson says if the drugs and gang are taken out of the neighborhood it will be a safer place to live.

"[We’ve got] this dope stuff around here and these people in the neighborhood, ain't nothing but gangs around here," said Anderson.

It's an alarming trend neighbors hope will soon stop, so they can enjoy a place they call home.

People in the community say after the break-ins, they want to start a neighborhood crime watch.

Hey Hey Doug!, if the writer of this, which I'm assuming is you, would have paid attention in third grade English, ordinary citizens wouldn't have to be correcting you.

Jack, truth used to be a virtue, held in the highest of esteem. Now, truth is treated like a diseased whore. We are now required, by way of political correctness, to pet all tigers equally because not all tigers are man-eaters. The problem with this is reflective of your point about a certain ethnic group committing most crime. Common sense is not allowed by law and censorship.

to Jack: There are criminals of all races here in Augusta...the problems with youth is in the juvenile justice system. People feel that everyone should have multiple chances and by the time they are 18 or 19 they have moved on to bigger crimes. If they would punish them now instead of later they may learn a lesson and it may save their life or others in the long run. Criminals here get away with too much...even the repeat offenders.

That area is getting worse...my house was broken into twice in one month. They definitely need to get the drugs off the streets. Many of these crimes are committed by juveniles.

If only the police had guns and no one else, then why would you have to be scared. If some youth knocked down your door or otherwise violated your property you could beat the hell out of them.Maybe they would learn a lesson and you WOULD feel much better than shooting the dimwit.
