Murder investigation underway after body found in Aiken County

WARRENVILLE, S.C. - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is working a murder investigation after a body was found in Warrenville Friday morning.

Dispatchers tell NBC Augusta 26 News the man was discovered on Springwood Loop around 8:30 a.m.

The Aiken County Coroner says the man was 68 years-old and is waiting to notify family members before releasing the victim's name. The coroner also says an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.

Neighbors tell us the man was found badly beaten.
