AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Richmond County jail is on lockdown after 31 inmates attacked three deputy jailers Friday night.

Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength says the deputy jailers caught the inmates gambling and told them to stop. Strength tells 26 News the inmates started to fight the three deputies.

Strength says one guard was stabbed in the face with a pencil, one has a broken nose and another has a broken rib.

None of the injuries are life threatening.

The jail will be on lockdown until Sheriff Ronnie Strength decides otherwise.

Charges are pending for the 31 inmates involved in the fight.

When inmates know that a deputy will lose his job if he puts his hands on the inmate, this is what happens. The inmates have more rights and privelages that the jailors. And lets see, that's 31 inmates who will be charges with aggravated assault and possibly lynching, among other things. Even if the inmate did not actually commit the stabbing, he will be charged because he was there. The hand of one is the hand of all. I hope all 31 of them get life without parole. Then Almeta can go visit her husband, her brother, and her son at the same place for the rest of her life. Over and over you see the police put hand cuffs on a suspect and then start roughing the suspect up while he is defenceless. It happened recently at a bar in town I read about it in here. You can see it on the tv if you watch that show called pigs or is it cops? The police like to put thier knee in the back of a brother's neck and rub his face in the ground after the cuffs are on, always after the cuffs are on. I gaurantee these three cops had been abusive in the past to these defenceless inmates. Well they had it coming, if you treat a man with respect you get respect, you keep abusing and sooner or later you gonna get a pencil in your eye.
