AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - Attorney Shane Massey has defeated Bill Hixson in a runoff for the Republican nomination for a South Carolina state Senate seat.

Moore will now take on Democratic state Rep. Bill Clyburn in the
special election to replace Democrat Tommy Moore.

That election is scheduled for November 6th.

Senate District 25 includes Aiken, Edgefield, McCormick and Saluda counties.

In a news release, Governor Mark Sanford called Massey's victory
a mandate for change and praised his pro-reform platform.
