As in elections past, political analysts say women voters will be key in Decision 2008.
NBC Augusta caught up with women voters to find out what they are looking for in a President.
"We don't follow, we're not followers. It's exciting to see women, both Republican and Democrat, are out there choosing their candidate who they want to stand behind,” said Deanne Hall, voter.
"We are independent, independent minded. We are women who are interested in issues, we don't go the way you expect," said Dr. Kathryn Webb, voter.
"A lot of people would expect me actually to fall in line behind Obama. But really for me, he doesn't stand for the things that I stand for,” said voter Jessica Morris.
So, what strategies should the two candidates use to get women behind them? It's not a cut and dry answer.
"I'm really just supporting things that put the people, taxpayers in charge of their own wallets, said Morris.
Dr. Paul Harris, Political Science Professor at Augusta State University says women voters make their decisions based on their every day lives.
"The candidates when they're appealing to women voters, they're looking at issues such as domestic policy, education, safety,” he said.
Hall agrees, "They want to know that their children's future is going to be taken care of and I'd like to think I know it personally, I'm a lot more thorough when I research knowing it is for my children and grandchildren's future than I am even for my own."
No matter what the candidates' strategy, one thing is for sure.
"It is very important that they get the female voters and the reason is because women, if we control for income and control for age, women will go out in larger numbers than men and vote so it's very important," said Harris.
