The runoff for the Democratic nomination for Richmond County Tax Commissioner is Tuesday.

The two men running are Tommy Boyles and Steven Kendrick.

Both say they are ready for the job.

Kendrick is a business professor at Augusta State University and University of Phoenix.

“The office is responsible for collecting taxes for the citizens of Richmond County and everyone knows in order to do the collection you have to have a few other skills but not necessarily an accounting degree. I do have a business degree. I do have a number of hours in accounting,” said Kendrick.

Boyles worked as director of recreation and parks for years.

"This whole campaign is all about experience and I’m the one with experience, governmental, military, state government and department head experience as director of recreation and parks for 32 years," said Boyles.

Whoever wins Tuesday's runoff will be elected to the seat because there is no Republican challenger in November's general election.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
