NBC NEWS- President Bush paid a surprise videotaped visit to NBC's 'Deal or No Deal' Monday night. He made the guest appearance to offer a good luck message to decorated Iraq war veteran Army Captain Joseph Kobes who competed on the game show. Kobes and audience watched the President through a giant video screen. Mr. Bush said, "Good evening, captain Kobes. I am thrilled to be on 'Deal or No Deal' with you tonight. Come to think of it -- I’m thrilled to be anywhere with high ratings these days. Howie, I don't know if you're free to come to Washington anytime soon. But, I have to reach an agreement with Congress on the federal budget. How'd you like to host a three-trillion dollar 'Deal or No Deal? Captain Kobes, thank you for your courageous service in Iraq. You and your fellow men and women in uniform are heroes to all Americans whose freedoms you protect. Laura and I are rootin' for you tonight. And good luck!" Captain Kobes won $26,000 on the show. Captain Kobes is from Sumner, Washington and served three tours of duty in Iraq between March 2004 and July 2007. The 29-year-old transportation officer and bronze star recipient received a purple heart for injuries he sustained when his truck was blown up in 2004. |
