LONDON (AP) - Batman star Christian Bale is free on bail. The 34-year-old actor spent four hours at a London police station after being arrested in connection with allegations that he assaulted two members of his family.

British media reported that Bale's mother and sister complained
he had assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday
night, a day before the European premiere of his film ``The Dark
Knight.''

The Sun newspaper says police didn't question the actor
Monday because they didn't want to interfere with the premiere
of the movie.

Police didn't refer to Bale by name but issued a statement saying
the man they arrested was told to return on an unspecified date in
September.
