Michael Moore: Gustav proves there is a God

By Rich Rogers rrogers@nbcaugusta.com

As Hurricane Gustav heads toward the U.S. coastline, filmmaker Michael Moore is making some waves of his own, while Republicans try to decide whether to postpone their convention because of the storm.

The controversial documentary filmmaker appeared on Friday evening's edition of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC and said, "Gustav is proof there is a God...that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican convention in the Twin Cities at the top of the Mississippi River."

In the interview, Moore referred to the Bush Administration's difficulties in handling the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which struck Louisiana and Mississippi on August 29, 2005.

"I certainly hope nobody gets hurt," Moore added.

Moore also called Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, "Bush's foot soldier."

Earlier in the day, MSNBC came under fire for posting a "Breaking News" banner questioning how many houses would be added to the McCain campaign ticket with his announcement of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential pick, apparently referring to a recent gaffe made by McCain when he was unable to answer a reporter's question about how many homes he and his wife, Cindy McCain, own.

Anyone that believes ANYTHING Michael Moore says is a FOOL. The man has NO grasp of reality, no morals, and an incredibly large following of fools just like him.

I can not understand why people put so much stock in the statements of loons. if people keep listing to loons they will end up being looney themselves.

this just goes to show what a loon Michael Moore is - if he is that unhappy in America - he can move someplace - maybe he would be happy in the Middle East - I am sure they would welcome his points of view on things.

Michael Moore is an insensitive person who lacks perspective on what should and should not be important.

If Gustav is from GOD it's because they didn't pay attention last time. It's good for welfare cases that didn't get on cruise ship or Radisson hotels last time. Shows there's still hope

Sounds a little like the ringwing zealots saying that 9-11 was god's punishment....Buchanan said that Katrina was god's punishment for the "sin" in New Orleans. I guess Michal Moore enjoys this company.

Nice comparison Michael. Ironic karma for the GOP.
