A boat parade and a downtown light show will be the festivities this weekend!
Friday, there will be a Boat Parade at 6:30pm celebrating the new lights on the 13th and 5th Street Bridges. The best seats will be at the Amphitheater, there you can watch the boats illuminate the night led by both Mayor Deke Copenhaver and Mayor Lark Jones.
Saturday kicks of the Christmas Lights spectacular. The Holiday Saturday Market on the River opens at 10 a.m. at 8th Street and Reynolds Street followed by the Miss Augusta Fantasy Christmas Parade starting at 2 p.m.
Various activities will be located at the Augusta Commons, it will begin at 3:30 p.m.
S’mores table hosted by the Augusta Exchange Club, face painting hosted by Davidson Fine Arts School, decoration making hosted by the Junior League, Polar Express hosted by the U.S. Postal Service and Augusta State University Athletes, Elf School hosted by the Augusta State University Athletes and tying in with the Winter season, there will also be an Ice Skating Rink donated by Sanford, Bruker and Banks.
St. Paul’s will be offering hot chocolate, cider and BBQ.
During this time, be prepared to be entertained by various local groups, including the Restoration Praise Band, Dickens Carolers, Cutno School of Dance, and leading the Community Sing-a-long of Holiday favorites the combined choirs of Warren Baptist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church and Oasis de Bendicion Church.
Also, bring an unwrapped toy, canned food and coats for the non-profit groups participating, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army and Golden Harvest Food Bank.
