JOHNSTON, S.C. - If you're looking for something to do this weekend, the Johnson Peach Blossom Festival might be the event for you.
The 26th annual event will take place in the Edgefield County town this Saturday, May 2. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with free entertainment starting at 10 a.m. The festival wraps up at 4 p.m.
In addition to entertainment, the festival will showcase a laughing contest, arts and crafts, food concessions, a parade, rides for children, and an evening adult dance. All events are going to be held in downtown Johnston on Calhoun Street.
The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. with J.W. "Billy" Yonce as the Grand Marshal. Yonce began his local peach business in 1939.
The adult's dance for ages 21 and above runs from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets for the dance are $8 for singles and $15 for couples. Tickets are available in Johnston at DJ's Corner Cuts, WKSX, the Edgefield County Chamber of Commerce, and Maxwell and Halford Drug Store.
