Annual lights display at SC zoo begins
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Riverbanks Zoo's annual Lights Before Christmas opens this weekend. The trees at the Columbia zoo will twinkle with more than a million lights, and animated images will line the paths. Attendees can sip hot cocoa and toast marshmallows at the "jingle bell The lights turn on at 6 p.m. Saturday for the 22nd year. The nightly event extends through Jan. 3, closing only on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. New this year are huge holiday cards created by local students.
