AUGUSTA, Ga. - Since September 2007, NBC Augusta 26 has run weekly segments during our 11 a.m. newscast to help find homes for dogs and cats in animal shelters from around the CSRA.

Because our 11 a.m. newscast has been canceled in favor of adding a 7 p.m. newscast, "Adopt a Pet" with host Anne Sawyer moved to our sister station, WJBF NewsChannel 6, on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

The segment will now air during NewsChannel 6 at Noon with Mary Morrison.

The 7 pm news gets so much more exposure, this is the time that families are getting dinner ready, having family time, etc... it would be a shame to see it go. Is there any way to run a taped segment on NBC 26 News and also the mid-day news on WJBF?? These pets need all the exposure they can get to find loving homes.

We have never had so much response from being on TV. I think more people watch at 7:00pm. Would be nice to continue to tape that segment. Thanks

Thank you NBC Augusta for more than two years of adopt a pet. I will miss the many wonderful folks at 26--Liz Hill, Jay Jefferies and Rich Rogers were great with our precious homeless pets. I am looking forward to adopt a pet at Channel 6, WJBF on Wed. at the noon newscast with Mary Morrison. Sandy Larsen of the Aiken shelter said that the taped segment that was shown at Ch. 26 at 7p.m. 1-6-10 got more response than any other as four cats were adopted. Take care and God bless you!Anne Sawyer
