A south Augusta store owner speaks out after he defended himself from armed robbers. The search continues tonight for two armed men who attempted to rob the Chaperrel Package shop on Milledgeville Road.
The owner of that store says he fired at the men in order to save his own life.
Things are back to normal for store owner Adam Yu. He’s back open for business after an attempted armed robbery Tuesday night.
"I was sitting down like this resting," said Adam Yu, store owner.
Through a glass case, he watched as two men came running into his store.
"The next thing I know, I saw a mask. I went down. I grabbed my gun and the second guy shot at me," said Yu.
The bullet barely missed Yu and went right through a container. The store owner then fired four shots scaring the suspected robbers away.
"It was a quick reaction, not something that you think about. I had to do something because if I sit there and not do anything, I might get shot at and I might lose my life,” said Yu.
Yu tells NBC Augusta, this attempted robbery comes just a couple months after his good friend was shot in a different armed robbery on Goshen Road.
"One person I know really got shot three times and that came into my head," said Yu.
He says he wasn't going to let the men get the best of him.
"I don't want to put my life in his hands. I have to do what I can to save myself," said Yu.
Yu says he now knows he's ready to fire back if he's ever robbed again.
Investigators are still looking for the two men who attempted to rob Adam Yu.
