A fight delayed the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority meeting Thursday morning.
Witnesses tell NBC Augusta Community Activist Woody Merry and Coliseum Authority member William Fennoy got into a heated argument after Merry questioned Fennoy about why he missed Tuesday's Coliseum Authority meeting. Witnesses say that argument ended with pushing and punches being thrown. They say Merry was knocked to the ground.
NBC Augusta was there as deputies arrived to escort both men out of the meeting.
Fennoy says he plans to press charges against Merry.
After the morning commotion, board members appointed Richard Isdell as the new Coliseum Authority Chairman.
He replaces Keith Brown who stepped down earlier this week.
Board members also voted not to rehire Facilities Manager Julie Huggins.
The board fired Huggins in March because of discrepancies on her resume, just days after she was hired.
