In just six weeks all eyes will be on Beijing as the Olympics kick off. In
Columbia County all eyes will likely be on Lakeside graduate Reese Hoffa.
He's the best shot putter in the world right now, and it all started on the Lakeside high school track.
"You could tell he was going to be a good athlete just by what he was doing in High School," said his dad, Steve Hoffa.
Steve and Vicki Hoffa say they're proud to see their son Reese featured in Ebony magazine this month -- in a spread of black US Olympic hopefuls.
It's part of a lot of exposure, including a spread in sports illustrated last year -- and an upcoming appearance that has his parents extra excited
"I would've never thought I'd have a son that'd be on Jay Leno," Steve gleamed.
Joining their pride in Reese -- Sega. The game company picked Hoffa for the cover of Beijing 2008: this Olympic's official video game.
But the Hoffas say all the attention hasn't knocked their son from the right track.
"When Reese is around he always plays with the little ones, throws them around like a sack of potatoes," Steve said.
