MCGHealth's Sheila O'Neal tells us how to stay cool and safe in RiverBlast heat.

It is very easy to get dehydrated, but there are ways to prevent it.
Drink water or other sports drink up to one or two hours before you go outside. Also take water breaks every 20 minutes when you have to go outside. Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine.

The people at the greatest risk of becoming dehydrated are children, seniors and anyone working, playing or exercising outside.

Symptoms you should look out for are: dizziness, thirst, cramps, Irritability, headache, weakness and nausea.

If you start feeling any of those symptoms, you should get out of the heat, go indoors if possible, drink plenty of water and seek medical attention.
