Georgia Tourism Dept. picks a peach on I-20

A Georgia visitor thought she was getting a speeding ticket, but ended up getting something much sweeter.

She was picked to be a Georgia peach.

The event was part of "Georgia on My Mind Day", which promotes tourism in the state.

A Richmond County deputy pulled over the unsuspecting driver with an out-of-state license plate at the Georgia Visitor Center on I-20 West Friday morning.

But it wasn't a routine stop. Instead of getting a ticket, Latease McCray of Virginia got a basket full of goodies.

"I love it now. I might move to Georgia now if it's this friendly. I didn't know. I was so nervous. I was like Lord I don't need a ticket. I haven't had a ticket in 12 years," said McCray.

The gift basket included gas cards, food items, overnight accommodations and free passes to attractions.
