Burke County woman under investigation for stealing from bank

By NBCAugusta Producers

The FBI is investigating a former bank bookkeeper accused of stealing more than $500,000 from First National in Waynesboro.

Investigators say Linda Burch was fired last week. She was let go after an internal investigation by First National Bank.

Officers say Burch worked at the bank for more than 16 years.

NBC Augusta has learned Burch told her church congregation about stealing the money during a service over the weekend.

Federal agents say Burch has not been charged and the investigation is ongoing.

First National's president says none of their customers were affected by the thefts.

Sorry Katie. I understand you going biblical but come on. You must have got a cut too then.. If she was black she would have made front page. Right is right and wrong is wrong. If you are going to tell the news, then tell it all.

[ Judging Others ] "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:36-38. I think this speaks on its own. Please check your door step before you go against others. Like the old saying " Dont throw stones if you live in a glass house too!" I think alot of us have also lost sight that in God's eyes sin is sin. No matter what it is. In his eyes there is no different levels of sin. It is all one. So watch out

She should definitely serve time. Every time we turned around she was making improvements to her house, and she had both of her kids in private school. If she worked there 16 years, that comes up to $31,250 per year -- probably more than she earned.

She won't do time. She will get probation. She is not the right color. It's embezzlement for her but straight out stealing for others. Some know exactly what i mean!!!! She will get a slap on the hand. God does forgive but i wonder why she just decided to confess. Hmmmm
